Privacy Policy
Money Map · Tamdeen Company · Last updated: 8 October 2026
In short
Your financial data stays on your phone. We have no servers, no user accounts, no advertising and no tracking. We never see, collect, sell or share your data.
Data stored on your phone
Accounts, transactions, budgets, cards, investments, notes, tags, receipt photos and settings are saved only in the app's private storage on your device. A full card number, if you choose to save one, is kept in the phone's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, Keystore on Android). Deleting the app deletes this data unless you made a backup.
Backups you control
- Dropbox (optional): if you connect Dropbox, the app uploads a copy of your data to your own Dropbox account so you can restore it or use it on another phone. Dropbox's privacy policy applies to that copy. You can disconnect at any time in the app.
- Google Drive (optional): if you connect Google Drive, the app saves backup copies in a private app folder in your own Google Drive that only Money Map can see (it keeps the last 10). The app asks Google only for access to that folder, not to your other files. Google's privacy policy applies to those copies. You can disconnect at any time in the app.
- Files you export (backups, Excel, PDF) go only where you choose to save or share them.
Optional phone features
The app asks for each permission only when you use the related feature, and you can refuse or turn it off in your phone's settings.
- Camera and photos: to scan a receipt or a screenshot. The text is read on your phone.
- Microphone and speech recognition: to add a transaction by voice. On iPhone, speech may be processed by Apple according to Apple's privacy policy.
- Contacts: to pick a payee from your contacts and call or WhatsApp them. Only the name and number you pick are saved in the app; your contacts are never uploaded.
- Location (optional, off by default): only if you turn on “Remember Where I Spend” and tap “Add Location” on an expense. The place is saved with that expense on your phone. To show an area name, your phone's own map service (Apple or Google) looks up the coordinates. The app never reads your location in the background.
- Notifications: for reminders such as card due dates and recurring payments.
- Face ID / fingerprint: to lock the app. Handled by your phone; the app never receives your biometric data.
- Bank SMS (Android, outside Google Play only): to suggest transactions from bank messages. Messages are read on your phone and never uploaded.
Information the app downloads
To show current values, the app downloads public market data. These requests contain only what is needed to look up a price (for example a currency code or a stock symbol) and no personal or financial data:
- Exchange rates (open.er-api.com, currency-api via jsDelivr)
- Egyptian stock prices (TradingView, Yahoo Finance)
- Crypto prices (Binance, CryptoCompare)
The “Where I Spend” report shows a Google map; Google receives only the map area being viewed, never your expenses or amounts, under Google's privacy policy.
Like any internet request, these services can see your device's IP address. The app's text recognition uses Google ML Kit on your device, which may send anonymous usage and performance information to Google.
Your responsibility for backups
Because we never receive or store your data, we cannot restore it if your phone is lost, damaged or reset, or the app is deleted. You are responsible for keeping a backup, using the options in the app (automatic daily backup on the phone, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a backup file saved where you choose). See backup options.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
